I am often asked what someone can gift me that is not money. I do have an Amazon and Steam wish list, but I thought it may be better to throw this page together. This way, I can explain each item as well. I do want to say that I am very thankful for any game donotions that have been given, however, my backlist of things to play is so massive that I am not sure games are the best gift currently. I always feel bad if I am unable to play the gifted game for a long time (or ever).
The below items are all things that will improve the stream. Aside from paying the bills, that is the main thing I want to use stream income for in 2019. If you donate money for a specific item (so there is no need to ship), please let me know which item so I can purchase it and mark it off the list. If you would rather send me the item, please direct message me and I will give you my PO box address.
I have done a ton of research on each topic and item. I will continue to update the list if I discover more information.
The upgrades below are in the order I believe would most benefit the stream.
I believe this is the most important thing to upgrade right now. To do this, I would want to make a ‘stream machine’. This is a second, processor heavy computer that connects to the gaming computer via a capture card (which I already own). This will allow me to stream any game at all in 1080p 60fps with no lag on the stream end or on the game end. I already have some parts for this build. Below are the remaining pieces.
Processor ($300): AMD – Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core
Motherboard ($115): MSI – B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4
Memory ($90) – Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000
Storage ($70) – Crucial: MX500 500 GB 2.5″ SSD
Power Supply ($70): Corsair – TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX
After having the 1080/60 gameplay setup, my 8 year old webcam streaming at 720/30 will look way out of place. The best option would be a mirrorless video camera or dslr, but those options are $600+ and are not really needed. Instead, I would like to get a webcam that can stream 1080/60. There seems to only be one that can do this reliably.
1080/60 Streaming Camera ($200): Logitech BRIO – Ultra HD Webcam
This is perhaps the thing I have researched the most. It seems most streamers are set on the Blue yeti (I have one) or the Audiotechnica 2020 etc. Basically, condenser microphones. However, after going into many high-end streams, reading articles, and watching hundreds of videos, I think a Dynamic microphone would be best for my situation. Not only would this eliminate background noise from the keyboard, mouse, window, door, etc, but the warmth of the sound would match my natural voice more.
